Keeping up with the Kardashian’s and My Daughter’s Teacher

Keeping up with the Kardashian’s and My Daughter’s Teacher
5 Powerful Sayings You Should Live By

By: Yasmin Razack- limitlesswomen.ca

My daughter’s teacher is a gorgeous, young, vibrant woman with charisma oozing out of her ears – we will call her Suriya. She is so bright and full of energy just being around her will lift your spirit.  With her amazing smile Suriya asked me what I was doing on the weekend in our usual daily small chat.  I told her I was going out with my ‘crew’ to a party and she replies, “oh really? Wow…so much fun! I used to do stuff like that! And I loved it!!”

Ummm excuse me? Used to?

You have: NO KIDS. NO MORTGAGE and no HUSBAND (she is engaged tho…)

So when I asked this 27-year-old beauty “WHAT IS THE ISSUE????” Her response BLEW me away:

“Ohhh when I get home I am sooo tired and after a long week of work-it is just too much effort…”

Ok. Something wasn’t clicking.  I went with my gut and asked: “Does your fiancée like to dance? Go out and party?”

Her response, “No…not really.”

BINGO.

Which brings me to my FIRST powerful saying:

1. You are OLD for MUCH longer than you are YOUNG

Soak up every minute of your able-bodied, non-denture wearing, or walking with a cane etc etc YOUTH.  Yes, older people can live it up too however….it really does go without saying here.

The conversation I had with Suriya happened on a Friday and on Monday she came running up to me and said that something I said to her really hit home. It was this idea of being ‘young’ for only so long…so THAT weekend she planned a girls night out-incidentally the same weekend her husband will be away on a business.

Women often struggle with this, and I am definitely in that category as well. I know many men also feel that they have to comprise in relationships by letting go of some things they like or want to do once they get into relationships.

Kourtney and Kim Kardashian

2. You were your own woman before you got married and became a mother. Never forget that.

So here is my question. What if you got married and even had kids before you actualized all you wanted to do in life. In a recent episode of my guilty pleasure Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, Kourtney’s partner and father of her two kids named Scott,  met a racecar driver that was willing to fulfill his goal of becoming one.

Scott was thrilled. He said it unlocked a passion of his, a dream he always wanted to achieve. But Kourtney forbid him from perusing it further because she feared for his safety. It came to the point where he had to hide it from her…

Really? Is this common?

Yes.

Is it necessary? Can we not communicate?

Easier said than done but this saying always reminds me that it is OKAY to pursue your own goals despite the new layers of your life because my question is what would happen to your soul, your spirit and more importantly your relationship if you don’t?

3. The words you say circle in the air and as they circle they pick up power.

I never knew that what I told Suriya would actually motivate her to organize a girls night…I never thought twice about it. Realizing that what I said is not the only thing that compelled Suriya to ACT- it made me realize the power of:

WORDS.
DIALOUGE.
CONVERSATION.

You just never know what someone will say to make you think twice about what your doing…or NOT doing in your life. More importantly, you may never know the impact of your own words to others.

4. Listen to Your Struggle.

I heard this from a co-worker and it really stuck with me. I was feeling so overwhelmed with the job, the kids and LIFE overall and after she listened to me pour my heart out- she simply said, “Listen to Your Struggle”. When I hear her say those words, I felt a HUGE wave of calmness rush over me.

Yes. I needed to SLOW DOWN.

My body wanted me to STOP overthinking, putting so much pressure on myself to meet the ridiculous standards I had in my brain and just focus….

5. Focus on your Focus: You can’t catch a rabbit if you’re chasing two.

I use this saying SO much, if you are close to me you must of heard it 1000 times. It is sooo easy to get distracted and caught up and even switches what your focus is.

I dedicate the blog to all the women in my life who remind me all the time of these sayings not only by what they do, but also by who they are- what they stand for. Also for always reminding me that it’s okay to have and set personal goals no matter where you are life and what your responsibilities are.

F.A.M.I.L.Y

One thing that has become easier in my life is knowing what I want and what I don’t want.

The journey is always understanding and knowing WHO I AM.

Nice sayings to live by Yasmin!!! Got me thinking...here's a saying that I look at from time to time: "If you concentrate on what you have, you'll end up having more. If you constantly focus on what you don't have, you'll end up having less"- Oprah Winfrey...so celebrate the greatness in your life whenever an opportunity arises and never take that greatness for granted!!! Your blog made my day!!! Have a good one!

Love it!
This is the saying I chose to live by.
“I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
